NEW POLITICAL PARTY.
TWO DISTINCT MOVEMENTS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Wellington, March 14. The announcement of the formation ol the political league headed by Mr. t. P Skerrett came without preliminary blowing of trumpets. The league, as is stated in tlie official manifesto, is the result of a meeting of busiheßß men in Wellington. It is not to be confused with the group of Reform members who have been discussing programmes and policies lately, though the two movements are looking in tlie same direction and are in some degree connected. Mr. Skerrett, the president of the league, stated this evening that he had nothing to add to the statement supplied for publication and distributed through the Press Association. The league had a definite programme of work and it would proceed with its programme in duo coiiv.e. It was not a political body in the tense of beim; attached to any political parly, though naturally it would be interested in political tendencies.
