RESTORATION' OF NORMAL TRADE CONDITIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Mayor stated to-day that it was in the interests of all branches of public, and private activities that normal conditions of trade should be restored as quickly as possible, and that nothing would contribute to restoration to a greater degree than the rapid rcsumpt'on of the maximum railway services. SALVAGING TIIE WAIKARB. Wellington, Last Night. The steamer returned from Dusky Sound, where she went to carry out salvage operations on the wrecked steamer AVaikare. The diver succeeded in recovering a qnnniity of gear close to the hull. The salvage party is still carrying on operations, and it is anticipated that after tlie diver has made a hole in the hull there will be no difficulty experienced in recovering the WnikVs's iltteln.ll fittings.
