RIFLE SHOOTING.
THURSDAY AND SATURDAY CUPS. The second competition for the Thursday and Saturday cups took place on the respective afternoons. On Thursday the competitors struck trouble in the shape of a gusty left rear wind, and many scores suffered in consequence. On Saturday the wind was exactly in the opposite direction, but as it rose gradually competitors were able to keep step with it. Scores were as follows : THURSDAY CUP. 500 600 Hp, Tl. Deputy-Pres. Ramson 43 41 6 90 Rifleman Short 37 30 3 "6 Rifleman Christiansen 37 30 3 10 Rifleman Hoskln also commenced, but owing to an accident to his rifle had to discontinue after firing one or two shots.
