The costumes, which were very varied and gay, afforded a great deal of amusement. * * * * Last night a committee of girls at Bell Klock, viz., Misses M. Wheatley, Chrmmondley, B. King and M. The Plunket Society is in charge of the mart in Devon Street to-day to raise funds for the purchase of a motor case for Nurse Williams, whose humanitarian duties are rendered excessive by reason of the fact that she has no means of conveyance to the many homes which receive her welcome ministration. The care of mothers and babies is most important, and we should all do our bit towards helping this society to attain its object. Stalls will be found in different parts of the town, where one may purchase vegetables, sweets, cakes, babies' clothes, etc., while the motor trail, which consists of the drawings of motor cars in chalk at various intervals along the footpath from the Post Office to the Melbourne corner, upon which passers by are asked to place a coin, should considerably add to the takings, . . » « On the afternoon of Thursday, March 20, the associates of St. Mary's Home, Otahuhu, are holding a garden party at Mrß Crooke's residence, ''Shalford," Devon Street, in aid of the above institution. An entrance fee of 6d is to be charged, and there will be croquet competitions both at "Shalford" and on Mrs McKellars lawn. Other competitions will be clock golf and divided quotations. Afternoon tea will be served in the house and here will also be a cake stall. Music will be supplied by Mrs George's orchestra.
