AEJffVAL OF THE HORORATA. MAORIS BY WESTMORELAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The transport Hororata reached the harbor entrance at 7.30 p.m., and was saluted by guns at the forts. The troopship replied with a couple of brilliant rockets. The'outward-bound Maori siglialled a welcome, and her passengers cheered as the Hororata was passed. Otherwise there was no demonstration, the vessel's late arrival having upset all arrangements. The vessel will berth at 2 p.m. to-morrow, when a public welcome will be accorded.

The transport Westmoreland, which it is expected will reach New Zealand about April 12, is bringing 55 ollicers and !)7S other ranks of the New Zealand Pioneer Battalion.

A cablegram' received by the Minister of Defence slates that there are aboard the Westmoreland 129 Maoris for Wellington, 170 for Hawke's Bay, 13 for Taranoki, (i 59 for Auckland, and 408 for the South Island. There are remaining in France and England 392 Maoris, mostly in hospital. The Minister has telegraphed for information as to what number of East Coast Maoris are included in the Auckland quota, but no reply lias yet. been received. The owners of the ship consider there are difficulties about landing troops at Gisborne.
