The Queen of Boiunaoia and two o£ her daughters have arrived in London. The Daily Empress states that Sir Douglas Haig will shortly return to England, Sir William Robertson succeeding him. Lieutenant Athol R. Mclsaac left last Monday to take up a position in the Union Steam Ship Company's Office, Christehurch.
A Sydney cable states that Mr C. Bruiisdon Fletcher, associate editor of tiie Sydney Morning Herald, has been appointed editor. A London ouble states that Rear Admiral Reginald Hall, a Coalitionist, de-. feated a Ijiborite for the West Derby' division of Liverpool
At last night's meeting of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce, a letter was received from Mr 0. N- Firth, vice-presi-dent, resigning from the chamber on account of his remove! from the district. The resignation was accepted with regret.

Lieutenant Burn, of Messrs Burn and Sou, engineers, Petone, has been appointed chief technical officer for aeroplanes in England. For two years Lieutenant Burn was in charge of the inventions workshop, Whitehall, and then he became production officer at the aeroplane factory at ffendon, the largest in England, which turned out twelve aeroplanes a day. Archdeacon R. B. Comins, formerly of the Melanesian Mission, has died at the age of forty-one (states a Press Association message from Christchureh). He was ordained in Enplan.l in 1574, and was curate at Grantham until 187(1, in which year he began a long career of missionary work in the Solomon Islands, which did not terminate, until 1910, when he resigned his position as Archdeacon of North Melanesia and came to New Zealand, where he had been engaged in secretarial work in connection with a mission.
The late Mr Henry Rawson. Stipendiary Magistrate, who dieil at Hamilton on Wednesday evening was born in New Plymouth 52 years ago, his father being District Judge. On completion of Ilia scholastic studies lie took an appointment as cadet ir. the Magistrate's Court in his native town. He was Clerk of the Court for six years at 1-la.sterton, .;n<l was elevated to the magistracy in 190S, at Westport. Ho relieved in Auckland for a few months, and then eame to Hamilton. Mr Raw.son had a very wide circuit, including the King Country. He leaves a widow, two daughters, and a son, who is serving on the Western front.
Mr. N. E. Beamish, who died at his residence, Stoneycroft, Hastings, on March 3, in his 93rd year, arrived at Lyttelton in ISoO in the Bailing vessel Lady Nugent, from Cork. After spending two years at Lyttalton, there being at that time not a house wlitre Chris tchurch now stands, he became manager of the Hon. W. B. Rhode's Heaton Pork Estate, Rangitiktn, a position which he held for 18 years, when at the request of his brother-in-law, Mr. Thomas Lowry, he moved to Hawke'a Bay and took over the management of the Okawa Estate. There he remained for 20 years, afterwards removing to Stoneycroft, where he resided until the time of his death. Mr. Beamish jparried Miss Elizabeth Coiiper, and liad thru daughters (Mrs. A- H. Wallis, of Gisitorne; the late Mrs. John .Tameson, of Glenross, and Mrs. Barcroft, of Hastings), and four sons (William, George, Nat and Henry). Mr Beamish, who was Born in 1827, had lived under five Sovereigns (Georae IV'., William IV., Victoria, Edward VTI., and George V.). Forty years iu«s purchased the Whan a Whana run of 10.0' acres, which has since "been aiviae<f amongst his seven children.
