Soino smart sprinters may be saddled up i„U the shorter receg, and' recent form
points to Comment and Nystad as the dangerous ones. The minor events should be well contested, and Astinome, Sacramento, Sweet Tipperary, Ermine, Red Signal, and Eebekah should run well in their engagements. Very fine acceptances were received for I the Opnnake K.C. animal meeting, which J •promises to attract a big crowd to . Pihama on Monday next. Dingle and I Alteration hold their ground in the Cup, i but Inah has been allowed, to drop out j of the St. Patrick's Handicap. The latter race is voted only a matter of ; health for Play Off, but be will have to strip very lit to stall off consistent printers like Rawakore and Movement. ,: The Handicap Hurdles should be the best ] race of the day, and punters may find it hard to decide between Polthoguo, j Speedwell Mac, and Jiu Jit.su on the day. i Cadet, Metallum, Jiu Jitsu, Perfect Day, | and Some Boy will be well backed in the i minor sprints. j First Line likes to run along in front, I bue Ore Ore bustled him all the way at : Napier and ran in an easy winner. | Ethiopian, who scored easily at Greenmeadows, is by All Black, and promises to pay his way this season. Sweet Corn was ridden in behind at Napier, and scored nicely each day, paying good "prices." I Teka is feeling the effects of racing | on hard tracks, and was too sore to start i in the Napier Cup. j Battle Song won the Napier Cup in jvery easy fashion. He took command l at the end of three furlongs, and successi fully stalled off Hendra, Tressida, and jßewi Poto in turn. Palm Oil's running ! was the chief disappointment of the race. Hetana proved himself a good bit of stuff by winning the Sapling Stakes frow end to end. Magistrate was his ! nearest attendant most of the way, but ! was beaten at the distance. Stammer ', was coupled with the winner. i Gray's followers have bad a royal innI ings lately, and many of the Bar Vons | ore talking of going back to work. : A prad named Wacringa is entered : for no less than five races at the Nga- • ruawahia (one day) meeting.
