ORIGINAL VERSE.
"WHY WE HATE THE HUN." (Dedicated to those who already forget) Have you seen the desolation of the blood-stained fields of France! Hjave you seen fair Belgium's cities lying low? Did you hear the cries of anguish, from the children of the West, As they shrank beneath the deadly! German blow! Have you read of all the horrors that were done by German hands, Deeds they flung with all defiance to the world? Tortured women, murdered children, any crime however bad, These were done beneath that hateful flag unfurled.
Have you ever read the story, of the city of Louvain? Has the Lusitania faded from your mind? Do you think these deeds of horror can be quietly put aside - When you ask us to be loving, good and ' kind?
What about the German navy, they who wouldn't play the game But preferred to make a raid, then cut and run? When they used their submarines to sink a non-combatant ship, Do you think they did these things for love and fun?
Have you counted up the total, of the maimed, the'blind and dead? Have you thought about the ceaseless tears which flow? Recall these things, then ask us if we love the German Hun, And the answer of the world will thunder "No."
Why, if some of these were fairy tales and only half were, true, That half would damn the German to his fate. And seared on our memories right down the sands of time, Would be found, a deep and lasting bitter hate. -H.J.E. Koru, March 10.
