MINISTER'S VIEWS. By Telegraph.— Press Association. Nelson, Last Night. The matter of assistance for New Zealand sea-fisheries was mentioned by T. A. H. Field, M.P., before the Industries Committee on Monday, and there has been published a Press Association message giving the recommendations made to the Northern Fisheries Commission by Mr. V. L. Ayson, chief inspector of fisheries. In conversation w'th a reporter today, the Hon. T M. Wilford, Minister of Marine, said that miniy of tho suggestions made by Mr. Ayson had not yet been considered by the Cabinet, but he had already obtained the authorisation of £2OOO for the pm chase of Ashing material, nets, etc., at Hon.e, in order that direct assistant; could be given to those engaged in the induswy. He further stated that the Secretary of Marine was preparing an order to be despatched to the High Commissioner, giving the necessary details.

The Hon. T. M Wilford also stated that a grant or a very substantial sum for the provision of cool stoiage was not only necessary, but would have to be undertaken as soon as funds could be provided Further remarks of the Minister bore on the importance he atUches to the value of our sea-fisheries as a source of food supply. Mr. Wilford leaves for Wellington to-morrow morning
