THE. COMPANIES' ACT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington. March 11. Reference wan made at the meeting of the Chamber of Commerce to anomalies in the Companies' Act, especially as to the registration of firms. Compulsory registration is desirable as in Australia, but the Bill introduced last session for the purpose was smothered in the rush The Chamber supported the proposal and decided to attempt to secure early legislation. SEAMEN'S ELECTORAL RIGHTS. Dunedin, March 10. The secretary of the local branch of the Seamen's Union has received the following telegram from Mr Young, general secretary: "After consulting with Mr Skerrett and conferring with Sir P. Bell regarding the licensing poll, the latter rules that seamen holding electors' rights may vote before any collector of customs in any port of New Zealand from and including March 20 up to and including the date of the poll.
