DRASTIC LABOR PROPOSALS. Sydney, March 10. Resolutions at the forthcoming con-; ference will include proposals for a 3S-' hour working week in all governmental; and secondary industries, and 30 hours for miners. It is also proposed to make voting compulsory and reduce the voting age to 18.—Aus.—N.Z. Cable Assn. UNION TYRANNY. London, March G. Valentine, a member of the Amalgamated Engineers' Society, refused to join the Railway Builders and Mechanics' Society. Officials threatened to ■ call a strike if Valentine was not discharged, although the Amalgamated Society insisted, on retaining hiin. Mr Justice Asbury granted an injunction against the officials from any action preventing Valentine from disposing of his labor as he willed—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.. THE JOHANNESBURG STRIKERS. Capetown, March 8. The intervention of the Government and the appointment of a commission of inquiry had a steadying effect on the Johannesburg strikers. It is hoped work will 'be resumed pending the result of the report of the commission. THE WORKERS' CLAIMS. London, March 8. Forty-four hours has been conceded dockers and wharfingers.
