EPIDEMIC COMMISSION.

'At the Epidemic Commision, Dr. Watt gave evidence that outbreaks of influenza were reported in New Zealand early in August Dr. Frengley said that since the fact was established that the peak of the epidemic occurred approximately at the same time for England America, and New Zealand, it was clear New Zealand was not infected from rases occurring in the fatal waves overseas.
Thomas Russell Ritchie, who had been acting as bacteriologist in England in No. 3 New ZeaJsnd General Hospital, said the epidemic had been showing sign-i of itself for two years There were serious outbreaks of bronchial pneumonia following the influenza in France in the winter of 1916-17. Many people in New Zealand were still carrying organisms causing an epidemic of sickness.
