Mr. A. C. Montague, a well-known Dunedin artist, died on Monday, in his G7th year. Rev. F, J. Parker, who has 'bean in charge of the Manaia Methodist circuit for some time, has 'been appointed to take charge of Roslyn circuit in Otago.
Mr. Shailer Weston, who bad been requested to allow himself to be nominated for tlie Mayoralty of the city, ha* agreed to do so, states a Wellington wire.
Mr. W. 11. Jackson, headmaster of the Masterton District High School, will be a candidate for the office of Mayor of Masterton at the municipal elections next month.
Mademoiselle Dolores and party are due to arrive in New Plymouth to-day. During her stay here mademoiselle will be in residence at the White Hart. Mademoiselle Vaudour, a lifelong friend of Dolores, is a member of the party, Adjutant Bladen, of the Salvation Amy, who was a chaplain in Featherston Camp and France, will be visiting New Plymouth at the end of the week, Mr. T. F. Beck, New Plymouth, has received advice that his aon, Sapper G. M'L. Beck, is returning with draft No. 224 on H.M.T. AjaDa, due to arrive in Auckland on or about the 22nd inst.

Mr. M. Roche, together with Mr*. hoche ami daughter, are spending : Holiday in New Plymouth. Mr. Roche is a very old member of the police force. He was the first constable to be stationed at Stratford and Normanbv, and was transferred to New Plymouth in Tune, IS7Q.
