CHURCH UNION.
METHODISTS SYMPATHETIO. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The Methodist conference to-night discussed church union, and passed resolutions: (1) Expressing appreciation of the action of the Presbyterian Assembly in sending a deputation to the conference; (2) assuring the assembly of the conference's willingness cordially to consider any overture in favor of union; (3) expressing satisfaction at the widespread sentiment in favor of church reunion 'hat is stirrinar throughout the Christian chuTch; (4) affirming its adherence to the principle of union between Presbyterian, Congregational and Methodist Churches in "Now Zealand, providing a satisfactory basis of union both as to creed and policy can be agreed upon; (5) expressing the opinion that such union would be a practical step towards the recovery oi tho New Testament ideal of unity of the Christian Church, and add greatly to the power and effectiveness of the Evangelical Church in this Dominion.
A resolution affirming tho desirability of establishing a Methodist secondary school in each Island was passed.
CONGREGATIONALISTS' SUPPORT. Auckland. Last Night. The Congregational Union conference carried resolutions unanimously that in the opinion of the conference church un' ion wns highly desirable, and should be seriously and sympathetically considered, also expressing cordial appreciation of the attitude regarding church union taken up bv the Presbyterian Assembly to individual churches. With a view to arriving at a definite decision it was resolved to appoint a committee to farther the cause of unity, and to take steps to receive the decision of the churches by September 30.
