THE SHOW.
The Tarannki A. and P. Society deserves to be congratulated on the success of its show yesterday. The elements were very kind, and the attendance must have neen a record. The show was a splendid one regarded from any point of view. North Tarannki is noted for the all - round quality of its dairy stock, and a good display at the show was to be expected. The expectation was fully realised, for rarely has been seen in a show ring such excellent animals. In the horse classes, too, were entries that would be a credit to any district. Only )i few years ago "anything would do" so far as horse-flesh was concerned; but farmers have learned the lesSon that the best always pays, and have been steadily improving their hofses, as they have their dairy herds. A show like yesterday's affords the public and outsiders an opportunity of viewing the advance made by the district in the matter of its stock, and yesterday's verdict as to the result must have been entirely favorable. The parade of stock could hardly have been better. The entries were shown to full advantage, and the management of the parade and the ring events, as well as that of the show generally, reflected great credit on all concerned. It is quite clear that the society will have to go in for a scheme of extensions, for in places there was
congestion, and the grandstand will need to be considerably enlarged. This, of course, takes money. The society has had its difficult days, and is not yet out of the wood, but it has the whole-hearted support of the public, who appreciate the work ol the Bociety and the part it is playing in the development of the district, and can be relied upon to support a progressive and enterprising policy.
