HATE LITERATURE.
To the Editor. Sir,—As a parent, I beg to protest against the desire of some persons to introduce "hate" literature into the schools. How can we hope to raise a race of broad-minded and discreet citizens if we instil into our children wrong principles? Is it not enough that we have vanquished our foe without bearing a perpetual hatred toward him? Our descendants will learn all of the' horrors of war from future literature. As for Mr Trimble, it would seem that a British subject dare not voice his opinions in public lest a section of the community hold him to ridicule. Mr Editor, let us preserve tho famed British tradition, freedom of speech, and let uS not sink to the;level of the enemy and cultivate hatred songs and memories. It may be hard to forgive. Still it is a Christian duty, and I am sure will come in time. — I am, etc., "PATER." 1 Kaimata, March 3. ' "
