LEPPERTON. (From Our Own Correspondent). A welcome home social was tendered Privates Wright, Oliver, and Brown on Thmsday week by residents of the district. Mr. F. W. Atkinson expressed the I pleasure of all at seeing the returned soldiers again among us, and urged all not to forget in the years to come what these men had done for us. "Deeds, not words," was evidently the motto of the guests of the evening, whose responses were brief. A party of singers from New Plymouth, under the direction ol Mr. F. Asher, enlivened proceedings | with songs and ,'eeitation, while Miss B j Giddy and Mr. E. Hellier played for the j dances. A similar social is to be tendered to Litutenant N. Little and Privates Wills, L. King, K. Klenner and J. Fredenckson on Thursday, March 13 At a meeting of St. 'Mark's parishioners held recently, it wns decided to place two stained glass windows and a brass in the chancel fo the church to perpetuate the memory of the men who went from our district to the front and gave then lives for tho great cause.
