CONTROLLING TRANSPORT.
BRITISH GOVERNMENT SCHEME. London, Feb- 27. Mr Shortt has introduced a Bill ti establish a Ministry of 'Ways and Communication with the co-ordination of 111 means of transport. He said the Government pi opened to take control of railways and light railways, roads, bridges, tramwnys, canals and electricity supply. Nothing was more universally important than transport to industry. Agriculture could not be developed or the housing problem settled without adequate cheap transport. A committee of ihe House had decided tlmt, the nation could not revert to private competition and prewar condition!'.
