The Democratic leaders told President Wilson that they were bent on an extraordinary session of Congress to debate the League of Nations. President Wilson reiterated his intention to refuse such a session. President Wilson admitted that the clause referring to the country's geographic position entitling it to extra armament also applied to Britain, whose navy is not likely to be reduced, and to France, who required to safeguard her frontiers. In reference to Japan having a base in Mexico, Presi>nt. Wilson replied that the League of Nations would doubtless prohibit it. If not, the United States must act to secure her own preservation.—Aus.
