_ DEATHS IN MELBOURNE. PRECAUTIONS MAINTAINED. Melbourne, Feb. 2G. Eight additional deaths from influenza were reported making yesterday's t total 16. Melbourne, Feb. 23. The Medical Board has decided against any easing of the influenza restrictions at present. —Aua.-N.Z. Cable Asan. DISTRESS IN SYDNEY. , Sydney, Feb. 26. Many are out of work and there is considerable distress as the result of the influenza restrictions. The Relief Board has already dealt with over 1300 cases. Compulsory masking has reduced tobacconists' sales by fully 25 per cent.—• AUB.-N.Z. Cable Assn. CERTIFICATES FOR VOLUNTARY HELPERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Feb) 26. At a meeting of the Hospital Board a letter was received from Dr. Valintine, stating that the Minister of Public Health had decided that a special certificate of thanks should be presented to persons who rendered valuable voluntary aid during the influenza epidemic, and asking for the names of those to whom these should be issued. The board passed a resolution expressing the opinion thut the whole thing was utterly undesirable .and impossible.
