A meeting of the general committee of the Stratford Chautauqua wa? held on Tuesday night. The following executive committee was appointed: Messrs W. P. Kirkwood (chairman). W. J. Crawshaw (treasurer), J. 15. Lyons (secretary), E. S. Rutlierfurd (assistant secretary). The meeting was highly enthusiastic. , It was reported that there was already a strong demand for tickets, which can be procured from any member of the committee. Season tickets should now be bought at 10s (Id, as, after the visit starts, season tickets will not he sold under 12s. The disposal of season children's tickets (at 4s) and students' tickets (at 6s) baa bpen placed in the hands of Messrs R. Masters and J. Thomas- Chautauqua is quite new to Stratford, hut in other countries, it has achieved a high degree of popularity.
Mr Pearce, engineer to the Egmont County Council, paid a visit to ths Borough Council's crushing plant yesterday, and afterwards congratulated the Mayor on the Council's up-to-date methods in this respect. A reminder is given of the great- gnla which is to take place this afternoon at Ngnere gardens, where Messrs Lester Bros, have arranged special attraction* for their patrons. A sports' programme has b°en arranged, heing full of interest and novelty, whilst the great Orche?. train will give numerous selections. A musical programme wil lalso he rendered by Messrs Fox and Litchwark. whilst. Mr ■T. Wade, lately returned from the front, will delight with Scotch dances Mr J Andrews will al«o dance, and Mr J. >S. Rowe will be seen in boxing contests aaginst a doughty opponent, and Ink ■but by no means least, the gathering will be einematographed. 'Mreshments can be obtained at the grounds
