CORRESPONDENCE.
"HATE" LITERATURE.
To the Editor. Sir, —In answer to "Taranaki Parent's" letter of Wednesday I, who, too, am a Taranaki parent, and one who lost on the battlefield those who were both near and dear, say that any parents desiring hate literature to be placed in the hands of their children should be ashamed of themselves. Such parents would no doubt be much offended were anyone to say they were not Christians. As to a-trocities, we all know that in every war they are committed by both sides. Naturally we exaggerate when we tell of those committed by our enemies. There are bad men in every country, and even in times of peace do we not hear of atrocities taking place in our own country? The Taranaki Education Board Is, in my opinion, and in that of many of my friends, to be commended for their highminded action in talcing a step towards keeping' the minds of little children pure;—l am, etc., ANOTHER PARENT. NEW PLYMOUTH TRAMWAYS. To the Editor. Sir, —Owing to rumours which are current as to the "go slow policy," the members of the N\P. Tramways Union wish to say it is not their intention or desira to inconvenience the public in any way, unless they are forced to do so by the Borough Council, who have repeatedly turned down their requests for a Is 4d per hour minimum which they consider a living wage. Below we furnish you with figures showing what the Nnpi#r Council consider a living wage and the wages paid by the New Plymouth Borough Council in parentheses.
