At the meeting of the Presbyterian Assembly 011 Wednesday evening at Ohristchurch, the Hev. J. H. Maekennie (clerk) draw attention to tlie fact that the Kev. James Puterson (Wellington) vvab not present with them at the Assembly owing to sickness. It was the first occasion that lie had been absent from their meeting for forty years. He moved that the Moderator should ba asked to send a telegram of sympathy to the reverend gentleman, The Hon. J. G, W. Aitken, in seconding the motion, rcfcrreed to the long association of Mr Paterson, now in his eighty-ninth year, with the ministry and the Assembly.
