A DESTRUCTIVE FIRE. Sydney, Feb. 21. The fire at Mirrool on the 15th caused damage to the extent of £40,000. COAL STRIKE ENDED. Sydney, Feb. 21. The strike of coal trimmers at Newcastle has been settled and the men hav« leaumed work. VITAL STATISTICS. Melbourne, Feb. 21. The vital statistics for 1918 show that the birth-rate was the lowest and the death-rate the second lowest recorded. MOUNT MORGAN MINE. Brisbane, Feb. 21. The Mount Morgau Mining Company has informed the employees that as a section of the men have adopted "go slow" tactics and caused a reduction in the output of 50 per cent., unless the normal product of the operations is resumed by the 24th the management will cease all mining and treatment operations.—Aus.
