STRATFORD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) (All comniUßieations, letters, etc., lott with Mr u. J. Uoslmm, boojuselk-i-, mill tecelv* piowjit mention.) Stratford, Feb. 21. Stratford is rapidly returning to normal after the show, which proved very successful, though, of course its financial success will sutler owing to a good many items of expense having to be duplicate!, on account of the unavoidable postponement. The gate takings were slightly less this year than last year. The value of the assistance rendered to the society by the ladies may be gauged from the fact that the luncheon rooms produced £129 4s 9d, whilst the concrete kiosk, in charge of Mesdames Curtis, Dingle and helpers, produced £lls 13s Sid. The results of the weight guessing competition will be made known on Saturday morning Matters in connection with the establishment of a separate Technical High School have advanced another stage. On Thursday morning a committee of the Taranaki Education Board inspected the. new site, and went fully into the question of the ground plan, with ?. view to the preparation of plans for the building, which, when erected, will be a credit to the district. In Broadwav there is a «hon that is always attractive. Goods are displayed in a tasteful manner, the quality is of the best, and the prices lowest on the market. This combination is hard to beat and is the secret of the great success attained by Mr C. E. James. This is no wild statement but a fact. Just now he is offering a wide range of ladies' handbags that are exceptionally good value, whilst his crockery and antimony ware is worthy of particular notice.—Advt.
