Clemenceau is 78 years of age), Six bullets struck the motor, smashing the glass M. Clemenceau walked into his home after the shooting. His assailant, Emile Cottin, aged 18, is believed to be a Russian. He was arrested after getting a severe thrashing at the hands of the crowd. To-day's sitting of the conference has been cancelled—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. In the House of Commons Mr. Bonar Law stated that M. Clemenceau was in bed, but expected to be up in a few days. He confesses he alone wsa responsible. He stated: "I am a French individual anarchist, and consider Clemenceau an enemy to the working class and humanity, and preparing another war." SYMPATHY FROM KING GEORGE. Received Feb. 20, 5.5 p.m. London, Feb. 19. The King telegraphed to M. Clemenceau: "I gm shocked to hear of the dastardly attack on you, and earnestly trust your injuries are not serious, and that, thanks to your splendid energy and courage, you will soon be restored to health to continue your great and valued efforts for France and her allies." —Reuter.
