In answer to the Harbor Board's suggestion th£t the Chamber of Commerce was Uie proper channel through which to disseminate information as to the cheapness of this port, the Chamber ol Commerce held a meeting lasi night ami it was decided to verify tiie information obtained by the Harbor .Master in that direction, and therefor several members of the Chamber of Commerce are to visit towns down the line, interview merchants and place the position before them. The Arapawa arrived in Waitara op. Saturday with a cargo of 2000 cases of benzine for Messrs Gaustad, Marlow and Co This, I should say, was the biggest consignment'of benzine thathaß come to >Waitara. She left yesterday with a cargo of 75 tons of manure from Messrs. Borthwick and Sons for Onehunga. Mr. A. Jaggs, of Auckland, is taking charge of the X.Z. Shipping Co.'s wool atoie in place of Mr. C. Hallam, who is leaving to-night to take up' his new position in Auckland. Mr. Hallam will be very much missed in many circles in Ibis town, and we wish him success in his new sphere of action. The Waitara School Committee held a meeting on Saturday night to consider the question of hours for the public at the school swimming baths, and as to supervision. Tt was decided to allow the public- in before Sam. and after 4 p.m. Adult ladies will be allowed the use of the baths free on the mornings and afternoons set apnrt for uirls Technical school hoys and girls are to be admitted freeIn order to raise funds to finish oft the -bnths it has been decided to hold aquatic sports on February 27. Ladies and men willing to assist the committee on that date are to meet at the Borough Council Chambers to-night to make arrangements.
