PEACE CELEBRATIONS.

I EXTENDING OVER THREE DAYS. A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAMME. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Minister for Internal Affairs stated to-day that he had submitted to Cabinet proposals for peace celebrations, and a draft had been approved vvilii slight modifications. The celebrations will be on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday after Peace is proclaimed. The two latter days will be public holidays. The Government appeals to employers to grant employees, domestic and industrial, all possible leave during the celebrations, and to pay full wages and salaries on the celebration daysSunday will be a day of thanksgiving, appropriate services will be held. Monday will be Soldiers' day, military processions, etc. School , children will he massed at suitable points at noon on Monday silent and bear-headed. A tribute for one minute will be paid to the brave dead, and all trains and trams will temporary cease running and all employment cease. In the afternoon theTe will be military reviews, tournaments, etc Returned soldier's will wear uniforms, and be placed in positions of honor. The third day will bo children's day. At nine o'clock Monday and Tuesday there will be illuminations and bonfires. Subsidies to local bodies will be 10s in £ for £IOOO, whether the expenditure be out of ordinary funds or by voluntary contributions, for £<' so, 12s fid in £ subsidy, for £SOO, 15s subsidy, fo'r £250, 17s 6d subsidv, and £BO or less 20s. , The Government will in addition provide railway fares of returned soldiers tft the nearest city or town and the railway fares of children from rural districts to the nearest city or town.
