—.■»- PALMERSTON NORTH SESSIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston North, Feb, 17. The sitting of the Supremo Court before Mr. Justice Chapman commenced to-day. There were only two criminal charges. George Samuel JJeadir.an for incest was sentenced to seven years' hard labor. WELLINGTON SESSIONS. Wellington, Last Night. Johnnnes Meertens, who pleaded guilty of carnal knowledge, came before Justice Sir Wnrtley Edwards for sentence. Counsel submitted that the man had been rather sinned against than sinning. His Honor said that the facts indicated that the girl concerned, though under sixteen, was of immoral character. However, the prisoner knew he was committing n Breach of the law, and would be sentenced to twelve Months' imprisonment.
