INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC.
IN AUSTRALIA. Melbourne, Feb. 13. Tliore were 170 new cases of influenza and 34 deaths. A meeting of the Board ot Health expressed indignation at the manner in which they were treated by the Government, alleging that the body bad not been consulted in any way in reference to measures to prevent the spread of the disease. One member said that experts were of opinion that the disease was not Spanish influenza. Although the death rate is only 25 per cent above the average, Melbourne is panic-stricken. The Federal authorities have agreed to send returning troops direct to their home ports.—Aus.-N.Z, Cable Assn. Brisbane, Feb. 13. The Commonwealth authorities landed troops from the Nestor at Lytton.— AU9.-N..Z. Cable Assn. Sydney, Feb. 13. There are 14 new influenza cases, inchiding one at Penrith and one at Culeairn.
