JAPANESE THREATS. REPRESENTATIVE WITHDRAWN FROM PEKIN. Pekin, Feb. 7. The Japanese Minister, Obata, told the Chinese Government that if it resisted the Japanese efforts to control the Chinese peaos delegation the 20,000,000 taels loan recently negotiated by Japan for China, of which three million taels had alreidy been advanced, would be cancelled. Pekin, Feb. 9. Saito, the Japanese military attache, has been recalled, but is remaining privately while endeavoring to induce the Chinese Government to prolong the Chino-Japanese military convention. The terms of the convention provide that it is inoperative at the cessation of the WJtt. iSaito contends that the war does not end till peace is signed.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc.
