BIG INCREASE IN TRAFFIC. The tramc returns for the past week, for the New Plymouth tramways, show a big advance on those for the corresponding week of last year. The fact that the weather last week was practically the first settled summer weather we lin'vp had lhi» season as well as the big attractions at the racecourse, probably were contributing factors to the very satisfactory result. For the week ended February 10, 1918, .the number of passenjers carried totalled 83,677, and the revenue amounted to £238 6s Td. Following are the details of laat week's traffic returns :
