A London cable reports the death of William Michael Roscetti, author and publisher. A London cable states that Miss Elizabeth Asquith is engaged to Prince Antoine Bibesco, of Bouraania, who is attached to the Roumanian Legation. Major W. G. Bishop, who left Hawera over three years ago, is due back at the end of the month.
Mrs J. Hine, Toko, has received cable advice from Major Hine that he will be leaving Egypt for home at the end of the month.
Mr S. McKenzie, dairy produce grader, has been transferred on promotion to Whangarei and will leave Manaia for that town at tile end of the presenr month.
A Paris cable states that Lord Reading returns to America next, week and takes up his Ambassadorial duties for a few months, and will then resume the Lord Chief Justiceship. The businass men of Wanganui met on Friday and farowelled Mr A. H. Glasgow, manager of the Union Bank, who has been transferred to Napier He was presented with a cheque for a substantial amount.
Mr. R. W. McVilly, assistant general mannger, has been appointed manager of the New Zealand railways from April 30, when Mr. Hiley will retire at his own request.—Press At-sn. Captain C. E. Blavney, formerly of Hawera, fo the Royal Flying Corps, has been on a visit to New Plymouth. He has had three years' service abroad. When the armistice was signed lie was in London on short leave from November 7 to November 14, Afterwards he was given six months' leave to visit New Zealand.
