BOWLING.
FINAL OF TARANAKI TOURNAMENT WON BY WEST END. The final of the Taranaki tournament, postponed from the previous week, waa played on the New Plymouth Green on Saturday between the following teams: West End —it Putt, Honeyfield, Lobb, J. I). Sole (s). Fitzroy—Bartlett, Dingle, Rennall and Abbott (s). The weather was really too wet to play off such an important fixture, but it was decided to play and as a result of the contest Sole proved an easy winner by 24 to 11. On the afternoon's play the West End team were much the better of tho two, Putt's leading Hieing MTtienlarly commendable throughout Abbott's team were by no means seen to Advantage, this being especially noticeable in the ease of Dingle. The contest was keenly watched by a number of bowling enthusiasts who all agreed that Pole well deserved his victory. Some very exciting heads were played at times in spite of weather conditions, but the long lead obtained by Sole made the issue fairly certain.
