OIL ERUPTION.

NO. 2 WELL ACTIVE. Just before midnight the resident* o£ Moturoa were startled by an eruption at A No. 2 well, just below the refinery. Oil and mud were thrown up to a considerable height and spread all over the neighboring land, the gutters of th« road and railway running high with the petroliferous liquid. Great volumes of gas were being emitt ed up to the time of our going to press. No. 2 is down about 3100 feet, and for some months no work has been going on at the bore, which was practically sealed. On previous occasions the well has middenly erupted. The present eruption il regarded as more violent than any pre-' vious one.
