THE COLONIES DISSATISFIED,
AUSTRALIA AND NBW GUINEA. •Reeefrcd Feb. 4, 11.25 p.m. New York, Feb. 3. The World's Paris correspondent statesv: that Auati-alia, South Africa, and New. Zealand are uissatisfied with tho settlement and disposition of the German colonies. Although they have obtained the right to set as mandatary Powers iu the administration of the colonies, the Dominions hope to obtain further powers on tho ground that they have already succeafuily administered tho colonies. It seems probable that Australia will ask the "big five" for the Tig Tit to apply its own administration to Now Guinea, in order to safeguard the Commonwealth from the danger of cheap Asiatic labor and immigration.—Aus. Pacifio Islands: '"The security we ask is certainly a* vital to us as that which France asks along the Bhine frontier. We have got a league of nations now sitting which is qualified to dispose of the situation. Instead, we. are asked to turn over the former German colonies to a league which i.-i not yet formed. We must have control over the territories to assure the application of Australia's laws, particularly that Australia's national policy of a 'white'' Australia can be maintained."—Aus. N.Z, Cable Assoc. MR HUGHES INTERVIEWED. London, Feb. 1. Le Matin interviewed Mr Hughes on his statement that the mandatory scheme was agreed upon in London in December Mr Hughes said lie was amazed.
