PURCHASE OF WOOL.
BY AMERICAN GOVERNMENT. CJhristchureli, Friday. Mr. W. I Carney, of Armour and Co., Christchureh, has received cable advice from Mr. Newton I). Baker, United States Secretary for War, stating tli.it his appointment to represent tlio United States in connection willi the purclmsu of Nov Zealand wool lias been confirmed. This refers to the purchase by the United States Government of 100, ODD bales of New Zealand wool from the Imperial Government. The shipping is being arranged by the American Government, and four steamers have already left with part of the purchase. The wool has been selected by the Government valuers, and will be representative of the different qualities of which the New Zealand clip is composed.
