A despatch from Paris states that Mr. Hurley lias announced that he ia going to the United States to examine the problems in connection with the American merchant marina He said the American people were determined to construct and maintain a merchant marine of sufficient size in order not to be dependent upon other nations for shipping to carry on American foreign trade.
