' Tho position of the drivers' dispuW was placed before a conference of th» national labor organisations by,the Drivers' ' Federation to-day. The efforts ta obtain increased wages and a 48-houir week .and the refusal of tlie employers to concede the demands wore explained. ' ASSAULT ON A CONS*ABES. J ( I Wellington, Last Night. David Leech Kinneur was charged iu the Magistrate's Court to-day with having assaulted Constable Small bo ps to cause him bodily harm. Small said be was attacked with a boat-hook, and that a Wow knocked him half-way across tho road. Kinnear, who pleaded guilty, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail was fixed at £IOO and two sureties of a like amount*
