To the Editor. ■ j £nr, —The contents oi the paragraph Tela ting to wages by concluding with the words "and the question further reviewed in May" conveyed an impression to' some that it was the question of the higher rate of pay' to su'rfaceinen, and they will be pleased to accept Mr Lopdell's assurance that it was a wrong one. Mistakes are sometimes made even by the wisest, as instanced by tiie misquotation in Mr Lopdeli'a letter. In conclusion, I may say it is well known the County Council employees have a high, opinion of the engineer, and every confidence in receiving a "square deal" from him«—l am, etc'JUNE."
