In the latest hospital report issued Private S, Stephens (Kohuratahi) is among those reported not serious cases. The Rev. W. A. Sinclair returned from Auckland 'by the Raravva yesterday morning. Mr. A. E. Sykes left by tlie Rarawa for Auckland last night, eu route to England via America. Dr. Fitzgerald, senior house surgeon in the Wellington Hospital, has resigned that position. Mr. W. Kane, district secretary, and Mr. E, J. Higgins, past district president, of the New Zealand district executive of the Hibernian Australasian Catholic Benefit Society, are paying a visit of inspection to various branches in Taranaki, Wanganui, and Taihape. They are much impressed with the beauty, progress, and prospects of New Plymouth. The death occurred at New Plymouth Hospital yesterday of Mr, Tom Parkin, of Kitzroy. The late Mr. Parkin was an old and respected settler of this district; He cama out to New Zealand in tho Bhip Hurunui about 45 years ago, and liatt been resident in the district ever since, having been engaged in farming pursuits and later contracting until about three years ago, when lie retired from active participation m the business which has beeu carried on by his son' Mr, Roy Parkin. The deceased had not tieeh well for some little time past, and a few days ago he was removed to the hospital, but, despite all that medical skill and devoted nursing could do, he died as already stated this morning
