(From Our Owe Correspondent.) EHliam, Jan. 24. Now the war is over, interest in many patriotic bodies has dropped considerably. Soi'ie may never be missed, but the local Overseas Olub has done mueU good work during the war, such as raising money for ths blind soldiers' hostel, tobacco fund. On Wednesday the anH'Wi! meeting was' held, but tlie attendwas somewhat disappointing. Mr. i ; - I). Oow was appointed president and Mr. W D. Ross secretary. The retirisg, president (Mr- C. 11 White)) offered a prize for the member securing the most members during tile year. Our first sitting of the S.M. Court was held on Wednesday, Mr. A. Judgment was reserved in the defended civil claim of £72 12s* 3d preferred bv D. Phillips (Mr Stewart) against 0. ■T. Warrender (Mr. Crump), This ca«e is like a Saturday supplement, to be continued in our next, and has been partly heard- Evidence-: was continued. The claim hinges round a milking machine. which defendant states he always refused to take over when he was on Phillips' section. He also admitted he paid no rent for the machine, although he used it.
