PROSPERITY IN GERMANY. London, Jan. 20. New Zealanders on furlough from Cologne declare that the general air of prosperity in Cologne confirms the soldiers' conviction that Germany waß beaten in the field. All the big restaurants are open, with orchestras equal to anything heard in London. Food is plentiful and cheap. The New Zealanders find the Germans deeply respectful. The Cotton Control Board has arrived at a decision virtually ending its control of the cotton trade.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. WOOL MERCHANTS' DEMANDS. London, Jan. 20. The executive for the associations of export merchants of raw materials and yarns at Bradford are pressing for the sale at the earliest possible moment, through the ordinary trade organisations, of Government-owned colonial and English wool, in open free competition subject only to necessary reserve limits.
