Ik a statement on belialf of ex-King Manuel, published in tlio Daily Chronicle, he says that in view of the new position and the chaos in Portugal caused by the assassination of Senhor Paes, lie does not expect his supporters to be bound Tiy the wish he expressed at the outbreak of war to refrain from a movement in his favor. Tie is in nowise privy to the present movement, but regards himst'if as absolutely at the service of the people, and if they call him he is prepared to go immediately.—Reuter.
