HAWERA EDUCATIONAL MATTERS.

DISESTABLISHMENT OF HIGH SCHOOL. The provisional" consent of the Minislev of Education to the disestablishment of the Hawera District High School, with a new to the establishment of a Technical High School, has been obtained. The chairman of the Taranaki Education Board (Mr R. Masters) interviewed the Minister (the Hon. J. A. Hanan) in Wellington towards the end of last week, and statea that the position now is that the Minister is prepared to disestablish the district high school on certain conditions, which are: (1) That the class-rooms required, in addition to those in the technical building, for accommodation of all the pupils desiring to attend the Technical High School are provided in convenient position, free of cost to the Education Board and Department. (2) That these class-rooms arc approved by the Education Department as suitable for the purpose, the lighting, sanitary conveniences, "heating and water supply and other arrangements being all satisfactory. 1 ;3) That the Education Board arranges if necessary to find suitable positions for the present teachers of the secondary department of the District High School,
