REMOVAL OF KXCING RESTRICTIONS. , _. ' By Telegraph.—Press 'Association. Wellington, Jan. 21. The Government has decided that the war being over and racing having b«n remmed in Great Britain, there is no need for the continuance of reduction of one-third imposed during war time. In making this intimation the Minister states that the Government could give no guarantee that race trains would be provided on pre-war scale, the reason being that the railways were stiil short-staffed, aud that there was a lack of coal - '"r** THE SHORTAGE OF COAL. " Wellington, Jan. 21. The Hon. Mr Myers stated to-day that he had devoted much time with those concerned in obtaining further supplies of coal and adjusting the quantities immediately .available. He had arranged to keep the more important public utilities going and hoped to tide over the present difficulty which has teen created by the epidemic and holidays. Having provided for the industries to the best advantage action is now being taken to endeavor to improve the position of the household supplies, in the Wellington district in particular.
