HOSPITAL BOARDS.

The'monlMy meeting of tKo TarSnafci Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held at the Board's office yesterday. The chairman (Mr M. Fraser) presided, end there were also present. Messrs A. 1!. Sykes, G. Capper, J Young:, R- W. J McNeill, C. Andrews, E. Morgan, F. J Kill, and J. Andrews. iIEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT'S RE- <& ~ PORT- : The medical superintendent (Dr E. A. Walker) reported that during the first half of the month (December) the pandemic again placed a heavy strain upon the stuff, which became easier as the month advanced. There was a gratifying decrease in the number of influenza admissions, and also in the serious rases. 2Co case was admitted from New Plymouth or the suburbs after the 13th inst. The number of patieuts admitted for the month was 107, discharged 317, died 31, remaining- in the hospital 03, highest number for one day 210; uainfcer of operations 21. r. &m MATRON'S REPORT.

Tho case 3 in the Opunake district appeared to be numerous and severe, bnt compared with the number and severity of cases, the t 'deaths had been few,. Unfortunately two cases of cebro-spinal meningitis .were notified from there, and full precautions were taken in each case. There ,was one case of diphtheria (which disease, curiously enough, was not at all Lb evidence during the epidemic), two cases of phthisis, and several cases of measles during the month. The furnishings from the whole of the temporary hospitals in the district, with the exception of Opunake and Rahotu, have ween removed to New Plymouth, and

the balance -will be brought ap as soon as possible.
