DESERTERS AND POLICE.
TWO POLICE SHOT. Received Jan. 21, 7.35 p.m. Paria, Jan. 18. Policemen traced a motor-car stolen by four Americau deserters. Three police inspectors attempted to arregt the deserters, who fired revolvers, shooting one in the stomach and another through the head. Both were sent to the hospital in a dangerous condition. One American has heen arrested and was nearly lynched. The others were arrested later in the morning—Aus-NZ. Cable Assoc.
