EAST END PICNIC.
Thursday next is to be a gala day at the East End Reserve, when the committee intend holding the annual picnic. Fine, weather .is essential to the outing and this the committee hope for, and given that the day may be regarded even now as an unprecedented success. Numerous prizes have been donated for the children's events; there will be bran tubs, cocoanut shies, and all sorts of fun for young and old. The grounds are in first-class order, as are also the beach and the Henui river, in which an excellent bathing pool has been formed. Hot water will be provided free. The ladies' committee will provide toa throughout the day in the pavilion at a charge of Gd, and the charge for admission to the grounds will be sixpence for adults, children being admitted free. The Citizens' Band will be in attendance during the day, and at night a muuicipal band recital will be given at the Reserve, and there will also be a long-night dance. Admission charges for the dance will be 2s (id and Is Cd. Cards Will be supplied for non-danccra
