By the public spirited generosity of Mr James Trotmson, the owner of a large area of forest in the Knihu district, the States kanri reserve has been extended by the gift of a very valuable section of kauri forest. Two years a«o members of the Parliamentary Party that toured North Auckland, visited Mr Tronnson'B Woodland property, and they spoke in warm admiration of tho kauri nobility there. A hope was then expressed that the Government would buy this piece of forest, but Mr Ttounaon has settled the matter handsomely with a gift The departure of the German prisoners, who were to have been repatriated, has been postponed owing to the change of transport arrangements. The Ulimaroa, which was to have taken these men, has been ordered to proceed to the East and receive troops for conveyance to England. There will be no room for the Germans, who must stay here a little longer. The prisoners themselves are stated to be anything but disappointed. They are in no haste to proceed to Germany.
